The British arrived a little late to Surrealism, but through the 1930s it made a significant impact on a number of important artists, including Paul Nash, Henry Moore and Francis Bacon. This talk will explore the history of Surrealism, its impact in England, and Leonora Carrington’s place in that story. Dr David Boyd Haycock is a freelance author, and he curated the exhibition ‘British Surrealism’ at Dulwich Picture Gallery in 2020.
