Paula Rego as printmaker: Marco Livingstone in conversation with Paul Coldwell

Newlands House Gallery is pleased to present an in-depth conversation exploring the work of Paula Rego as a printmaker.

Art historian and curator Marco Livingstone, who has written extensively on Paula Rego and curated major retrospectives of her work, will be joined by artist and printmaker Paul Coldwell. Drawing on Coldwell’s comprehensive research and presentation, this discussion will offer unique insight into Rego’s approach to printmaking, her visual language, and the themes that define her practice.

Together, Livingstone and Coldwell will reflect on Rego’s significance within postwar art and consider the role of printmaking in her wider body of work, offering audiences a rare opportunity to engage with two leading voices on the subject.

Marco Livingstone

Marco Livingstone is an art historian and independent curator who has written widely on postwar art, including publications on figures such as David Hockney, Allen Jones, R. B. Kitaj and George Segal. He has authored numerous essays on Paula Rego and curated major retrospective exhibitions of her work internationally.

Paul Coldwell

Paul Coldwell is an artist and printmaker whose work focuses on the relationship between printmaking, memory and materiality. He has developed an extensive body of research on Paula Rego’s printmaking practice and will present key insights during the talk.
