Newlands House Gallery and HG Café are delighted to launch our new Friday Late series with an evening of art, live music, drinks, and summer ambiance on Friday 25th July, from 6:00-8:30pm.

Start the evening with exclusive after-hours access to our current exhibition, Andy Warhol: My True Story, then head into the courtyard of HG Café for an atmospheric performance and open bar. Enjoy a curated selection of wines and beers, with a limited number of cheese and charcuterie boards available to pre-order.

Live Performance: A Journey Through Global Song
Join vocalist Lydia Kotsirea, performing as Ariádne, and award-winning pianist Nico Widdowson for an evocative 45-minute set, blending classic jazz, soul, Brazilian folk, French chanson, and Greek cinema soundtracks.

From Parisian cafés to Rio’s sunlit streets and smoky New York jazz clubs, this evening of sound and story promises a transportive musical experience under the summer sky.

Together, Ariádne and Nico offer a set that is at once nostalgic and boundaryless, featuring reimagining of songs by Edith Piaf, Elizeth Cardoso, Nat King Cole, and Manos Hajidakis, among others.

About the Artists:
Ariádne, Lydia Kotsirea, brings a rich blend of jazz and soul influences to her work, shaped by artists like Gal Costa, Emahoy Tsege Mariam Gebru, and Joni Mitchell. Her recent solo works has been featured on BBC Radio (BBC Radio 6 Music: Featured on The BBC Introducing Mixtape, BBC Introducing Sussex & Surrey)

Nico Widdowson, winner of the 2024 Musicians’ Company Tina May Young Jazz Musician of the Year, is known for his dazzling and genre-blending piano style, from Harlem stride to avant-garde improvisation.
