Petworth Late: Turner Art Escape at Petworth House

01 July 2022

PAST EVENT

Experience the incredible work of landscape painter J.M.W. Turner (1775 – 1851) during this unique late opening of Petworth House. Turner was a regular guest of the 3rd Earl of Egremont and you can see 19 of his paintings on display here, including specifically commissioned works of Petworth Park that are framed by exquisite Grinling Gibbons carvings. Admire the artwork then, look out of the windows to appreciate the very view Turner painted, as the music of a String duo fills the State Rooms. Highlight talks on Turner will be available during the evening, along with a free welcome drink on arrival and a pay-for bar.

In partnership with the National Trust and Petworth House, your ticket will give you admission to the Petworth Late on Friday 1st July, and admission to the Frank Auerbach exhibition at Newlands House Gallery at a time of your choice during their regular opening hours.

‘Frank Auerbach: Unseen’ will explore the evolution of the contemporary painter’s practice with a collection of over 65 works, including nine paintings, etchings, drawings and Drypoint prints. The exhibition runs until 14th August.
